Why purchase scented pine cones from a craft store when you can make them at home for just a fraction of the cost? Just gather as many pine cones as you want from your neighborhood and get started with the following easy steps. You might want to start this DIY well in advance of when you need the pine cones because it takes between four and six weeks for the pine cones to properly infuse the scents.

What you'll need:

- Cookie sheet
- Aluminum foil
- Spray bottle
- Essential oil of your choice (Cinnamon is my favorite for the holidays season)
</span><span class="title58"><span style="line-height: 115%; font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif'; mso-fareast-font-family: Calibri; mso-fareast-theme-font: minor-latin; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-fareast-language: EN-US; mso-bidi-language: AR-SA;">- Plastic storage bags

Instructions:

1. Rinse the pinecones under cool water in the sink. This will remove any insects and sap.
2. Heat the oven to 200 F. Line a cookie sheet with aluminum foil, and bake the pinecones for 1 hour or until dry.
3. Fill a spray bottle with cool water. Add five to six drops of essential oil. Spray the pinecones with the essential oil and water mixture until they are saturated.
4. Place the pinecones in a plastic bag, and seal it. Leave the pinecones in the plastic bag for 24 hours.
5. Remove the pinecones, and allow them to air dry.
<span style="line-height: 115%; font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif'; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-fareast-language: EN-US; mso-bidi-language: AR-SA;">6. Enjoy the smell !!

</span>Tips & Warnings:

- Wear gloves when handling the pinecones to avoid cutting your skin.
- If you’re using cinnamon essential oil, add three to four cinnamon sticks to the sealed bag to make the scent stronger.
